January 2010

Weekend was fun with our friends. 10 of us packed and started to spend weekend @ Blue Ridge cabins. Since the weather wasn’t suited for hiking or other outdoor activities, our plan was just to cook, eat & play. Loaded with the raw materials needed for cooking, right from Salt, Sugar till the masala powders needed for our Indian cooking we started off from our place 2.5 hrs beyond our target time (as always) 😀 I was all set for our getaway but my only fear being able to reach the cabin atleast before 9PM so that I can feed my LO her dinner. But sensing the late start I fed her dinner before we started. Clever-me! Like our earlier cabin vacation, this time also we had spooky-eerie night time search. The road, as per no-mile-marker-directions-we-got, which we thought will end in couple of miles didn’t end even after 10 miles & we thought we were off-way. But later found out that we still have to drive some more and finally found our cabin @ 10 30 PM.
Surprisingly, both Shravan & Shriya were awake as soon as we stopped @ our cabin and once we entered n settled down, they were active n playing :-O It got us like couple of hours to put them to bed and it was our game time until 5AM 🙂

Saturday dawned @ 9 AM and it was fun making Pancakes, Omlette, Toasted Bread with jelly for breakfast. After a hefty breakfast, we all settled down to play Literature while the kiddos dozed-off completely for hour and half after heavy breakfast 😛 Then its lunch time and hot-tub time for the guys. The kids were playing and running hither n thither. Shriya got used to all our friends n was gleefully playing. Mom & Dad, needless to say enjoyed the toothless smile 🙂 Again when the little ones dozed off after lunch, we all set in for a game of Monopoly 🙂 Shriya tried hard to tear down the Taboo cards with her mouth but couldn’t succeed. Hahaha it was funny to see her expression everytime when she failed to tear the Taboo card, well she thought she can chew it to pieces like she usually does with the Bounty or some mag pages 😛

The trip was overall joyful for us with our friends & with our LO and I’m sure Shriya enjoyed it as well 🙂

Yea, the LO s teething!!! She has this habit of biting/chewing our fingers or the lace from my winter fleece or wateve she can grab hold on to. And going by her habit, this Sat morn, my DH discovered a sharp bite when she had his finger 😛 and was loudly saying that she is starting to get her 1st tooth 🙂 Yayyy

Ah, atlast Daddy is happy that there’s someone in the household who can help him with. Hehehe yes mommy doesn’t like to do, (errrr read it as ‘doesn’t know to’ :-P) handyman stuffs. But yea, dad is pretty handy most of the times 🙂 And guess who helped him with changing oven bulb? YES, it’s Shriya 😀
LOL, yes, when daddy was trying to change the bulb in the oven, this tiny one crawled and walked and stood beside him, with one hand holding the oven door, other hand on the tray inside, she was peeking into the oven to check whether dad has fixed the lights correctly or not. Whattaaa brainy kid! 🙂

Yipeeeeeeeee Shriya is 9 months old and gets naughter day by day. Dad is taking the sweetie-pie for a regular 9th month visit with her Ped and he will be asking about her cold. I know, its tough on her and she’s got this cold since this Jan 1st. Hope she gets better soon.

Yes, being sleepless kills!!! Ive heard many babies start sleeping through the night from their 4th month. But this tiny lil brat, NO, is not sleeping through the night 😐 . She’s got this cold and poor thing is unable to sleep in the night and as a result we end up sleepless 😐 Hmmppphhhhhhh
No donuts for guessing 😐 , ah, yes, mommy is awake since 3 30AM and daddy was awake until 3 30 AM 😦

I’m looking for the day when Shriya starts to sleep throughout the night 😦

Omigosh…this little one cannot stay calm n quiet in one place, she just wants to move and explore and research and what not.
The pictures are a proof 🙂

Ahhh the poor thing is getting sick since this New Year start 😦 Sigh…Not a good start for the LO health-wise, perhaps. I hope n pray that she gets better soon.

Jan 5th eve, Tue, I noticed a red bump in her Diaper area and applied Desitin cream before her bed time and Wed morn when I changed her, I found no bumps and was happy. But Wed eve, the LO looked very dull and when I changed her diaper, her diaper area was very very reddish and she screamed when I touched it to wipe it clean. Again I applied Desitin thinking, it will be alrite tomo morning. But Thur morn, it was still the same and I couldn’t see my daughter cry and scream in pain. So my DH took her immediately to her Ped and later discovered that she has Peri-anal Strep dermatitis. Poor thing, suffered a lot with this fungal infection.
And I was in no condition to send her to the sitter again and I took care of her while I was working from home. As she was put in antibiotics, she pooped a lot number of times, and everytime I try to clean her, she was screaming n withering in pain. I cried seeing her cry 😦 & prayed to God to help her. And for most part of the day, I left her without diaper and put on her diaper before feeding her (coz then I know that she will poop immediately ;-)) Friday, I couldn’t go to work coz of the snow & ice on the roads, and I was happy that I can take care of her one more day and helped her to releive of her pain by frequent cleaning and changing her and by the weekend, I could see that her reddish spots were much decreased and she was feeling much better 🙂 Thank God !!!

But one thing that still bothers me is her cold, which hasn’t reduced at all. I hope she gets better soon.
Love ya baby

Haha, no it’s not the ‘attitude’ – attitude, but my lil princess has got some baby attitude, I beleive.

Here’s her milestones; she flipped when she was 4 3/4 (Oh yea, she wasn’t 5 at that time, but not 4 1/2 too, so I would like to call it as 4 3/4 months :-P) months old and she started to cruise when she was 5 1/2 months old. And she will cruise on non-stop from that time but just wouldn’t crawl. She started to stand, of course with a support, even before she could crawl. So we thought that she will not crawl at all and madam has got some attitude problem 🙂 According to her, crawling is what lil babies will do 😛 . But when we started to leave her @ sitter’s place, she started to crawl as she found cruising lil difficult in her appartment carpets. So from her 8th month, she showed us that, she can crawl too, but she was already able to stand. Now again her attitude comes in 😛 hehehe, she will crawl only to the closer reach areas like couch, or the high-chair, or the kitchen cabinets. And once she comes to her fav above said spots, she will stop crawling and start to stand by holding on to either one of those 🙂 How clever she is!

Now, past 1 week, she started to take lil teeny-tiny steps, again, by holding on to the couch or high-chair or kitchen cabinets. And last night, I noticed that she can take 2 steps and move litttttttttttttle bit and will pull herself down to the floor using her knees and settle on the floor 🙂

And I told myself, what a clever lil girl, she is. She uses her energy only if needed 😛 and not waste her time by crawling as she’s going to venture them out by walking soon 🙂
God bless!
Mwwahhhhh to Shriya kutty.

Feeding shriya is always a battle for us. Ever since she reduced her consumption of milk, I got worried more & more. When called her nurse, she was very strong in her words saying that babies until 12 months of age need atleast 24Oz of milk a day and infact ordered me to cut down on her solids to increase her milk intake. But her Ped says, give her what she wants. So I have reduced the number of feedings a day for her and even her solids and concentrating on her milk as well as Solids.

Everytime when I take the spoon to her or the bottle, she will refuse and neglect it. But as soon we turn ON the TV for her favorite tamil-soap title song, she will get more interest to watch it and that’s the time, for mommy & daddy to feed her mouthful of food 😛 hahaha… She doesn’t realise it until her fav song or commercial ends, hehe. And once it ends, dad will repeat it and mom will finsih feeding her. Phewwww !!! A battle won, atlast, by mommy & daddy. Yayyy 🙂
But what to do, Shriya wins at times too 😦 . When her bowl was getting to empty stage, I will be feeling happy-happy inside, but this lil brat will realise that mommy is going to win and she will shake her head or refuses the spoon to her mouth or move my hand away saying that she’s full & doesn’t need any more food. Still, I will try to feed her and she will avoid it and we have this battle for 5 mins, at the end, mom will give up & lil monkey Shriya will win 😀 Haha

Now as her new schedule, we have her morning breakfast milk, & I stopped her Oatmeal along with her milk. I’m fine as long as she takes in her milk fully in the morning. And after her nap, its milk again for lunch time and Gerber Veggies / Fruits / Home-made rice&dhal mix and then its nap time again for her. In the evening, will give her milk again and oatmeal before bed time. I hope she gets on to this schedule “without any fuss” for next 3 months 🙂

Happy feeding mommy & Daddy, 😛

Poor thing, got sick again. Her fever has reduced now but I guess she caught up with cold & cough. 31st night, she couldn’t sleep at all,,,she was waking up frequently, I believe because of her nose block, chest congestion. I can hear her coughs and sneezes in the middle of the night. When called up the nurse helpline @ Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, they said Tylenol / Saline nasal drops might help the baby to releive from chest congestion. And we started giving her those medications. But apart from that, New Year was awesome with friends coming over, yes for Shriya 🙂 One of our friend’s kid, 4 months older than Shriya, kept her on the roll 🙂 That kid started to walk err…run, so it was fascinating for Shriya to see a baby of relatively close age of hers to walk n run, I guess. ha ha ha. And it was fun for us, parents, to watch the two kids play and talk in their baby language 🙂

And on Jan 3rd, visited our temple and Shriya prayed to God for well-being, happiness & health in the year 2010!

Shriya wishes all a Very very Happy & Prosperous New Year ~~~
